I have this problem too sometimes. It's quite dangerous when driving fast and releasing throttle and engine stops... release clutch and BANG rearwheel is locks!!! Has happened many times. Sometimes it starts but it depend on which position of compress engine is.
This summer i installed fuel filter and cleaned carb and it seems to help a lot. Still couple of times savage stalled but i dont have hose clamps. Must try those clamps and hope that it helps.
Does savage originally have clamps on vacuum hose? I don't have?
